Mercury Quality Center 9.0 Requirements Synchronizer for Rational RequisitePro Add-in Readme

This file provides the following information about the Mercury Quality Center 9.0 Requirements Synchronizer for Rational RequisitePro Add-in:

  • Minimum Hardware Requirements
  • Known Problems and Limitations

For more information, refer to the Mercury Quality Center Requirements Synchronizer for Rational RequisitePro Add-in Guide.

Minimum Hardware Requirements

You must install the Quality Center Requirements Synchronizer on a separate, dedicated standard desktop machine that is not being used as a Quality Center or RequisitePro server.

Your machine must meet the minimum requirements and recommendations for a Rational Desktop System. For more information, refer to the Rational Software Desktop Products Installation Guide.

Problems and Limitations

·         Synchronization of User-Defined Fields: Only the first 25 requirement user-defined fields are available for synchronization: RQ_USER_01 to RQ_USER_25.

·         RequisitePro 2002 Refresh during the Synchronization Process: If a RequisitePro project is open during the synchronization process, errors may be generated. Workaround: Ensure that you close the RequisitePro project before starting the synchronization process. If this does not solve the problem, contact Mercury Customer Support.

·         Upgrading from a Previous Version of the Synchronizer: If you built synchronization tasks using the TestDirector Synchronizer, you must upgrade them to work with the Quality Center Synchronizer. For more information, contact Mercury Customer Support.

·         Upgrading from a Previous Version of TestDirector or Quality Center: If your project was created in TestDirector and then migrated to Quality Center, you must perform additional post installation steps. For more information, contact Mercury Customer Support.

o        If you worked with a previous version of the Synchronizer with TestDirector, and in upgrading from TestDirector to Quality Center, your Server URL, Domain name, or Project name changed, you must change the corresponding details in your tasks.

o        For example, your TestDirector Server URL may have been “http://myserver/tdbin”, and after upgrading to Quality Center it is “http://myserver/qcbin”, instead.

o        To change the details in your tasks, go to the location of your existing tasks (by default, in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Mercury Interactive\TDReqSync\Tasks) and open each task in Notepad.  Find the line with TDServer: “http://myserver/tdbin”, and change the Server URL to the new Server URL.  To change the Domain name or Project name, find the lines with TD_Domain:<domain name> (for the Domain) and TD_Database:<project name> (for the Project) and set their values to the new values.  Save the task file.

·         Running the Synchronizer as a Service: Before starting the Synchronizer as a service, you must configure the service to use an appropriate account. For more information, refer to the Mercury Quality Center Requirements Synchronizer for Rational RequisitePro Add-in Guide.

·         Synchronizing a Large Number of Requirements: The Synchronizer might report Quality Center errors, such as “RPC Server is Unavailable”, and stop the synchronization, if there are many Quality Center requirements to be synchronized.  If you see this error frequently, contact Mercury Customer Support.

·         Performance Limitations: Running a Full Scan on a large project can take a long time, especially when there are many Quality Center requirements that do not belong to any RequisitePro projects.

·         RequisitePro Limitations: In Quality Center, when moving or copying a requirement from one RequisitePro project to one with a different requirement type, the new requirement will not be synchronized. If you create a child requirement for this new requirement in Quality Center, the synchronization process will stop.

·         Mapping Multiple Value List Fields: You can not map a Quality Center multiple value list field to a RequisitePro multiple value list field. The following alternatives are available:

o       Map a Quality Center multiple value list field to a RequisitePro text field. List values are separated by a semicolon in RequisitePro.

o       Map a RequisitePro multiple value list field to a Quality Center string field as a read only value. Changes made in Quality Center are not synchronized to RequisitePro.

·         Restoring Quality Center Projects: If you restore a Quality Center project from Site Administration, you may not be able to run existing synchronization tasks for the restored project. This occurs because restoring a project does not automatically restore the passwords for users who have been deleted from Site Administration.
Workaround: Restore the original password for the user in Site Administration.

·         Other Known Issues: For other known issues with the Synchronizer, refer to the Mercury Quality Center Requirements Synchronizer for Rational RequisitePro Add-in Guide (the “Working with the Synchronizer” section of chapter 2).
