The QuickTest Professional/Astra QuickTest
add-in integrates TestDirector with QuickTest Professional or Astra
QuickTest, enabling you to do the following using TestDirector:
- Add QuickTest Professional/Astra QuickTest tests to the test plan tree.
- View QuickTest Professional/Astra QuickTest tests.
- Launch and edit QuickTest Professional/Astra QuickTest tests (if QuickTest Professional/Astra QuickTest is installed on the same machine).
- Run QuickTest Professional/Astra QuickTest tests from TestDirector.
- View QuickTest Professional/Astra QuickTest
test run results and reports.
Installation Instructions:
- Install QuickTest Professional/Astra QuickTest
on your TestDirector client machine. (This optional step enables you to launch and edit tests from
TestDirector.)
- Uninstall any previous versions of this add-in. To uninstall, choose
Start > Settings >
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
and follow the instructions on your screen.
- If you are installing the add-in for QuickTest Professional 9.0 on a Quality Center client machine and QuickTest Professional 9.0 is not installed on the same machine, you must install .NET Framework 1.1 from Microsoft Windows Update.
- Click the appropriate Download Add-in link to
download and install this add-in on your
client machine. Note that to install this add-in, you must
log in with administrator privileges.

Install the TestDirector Connectivity Add-in on your
TestDirector client machine. For more information, refer to the
TestDirector Add-ins page.
- If you are using QuickTest Professional 6.0 or 6.5, click Open
Customer Support
site. The Mercury Customer Support Web site
opens. Log in and install the relevant patch
on your TestDirector client machine:
- For QuickTest Professional/Astra
QuickTest 6.0: Choose Downloads > Download Patches
> QuickTest Professional > 6.0 > General >
QTP60p98.
- For QuickTest Professional 6.5: Choose
Downloads > Download Patches > QuickTest Professional
> 6.5 > General > QTP65p16.
Versions supported:
- QuickTest Professional 6.0, 6.5 and 8.0 and Astra
QuickTest 6.0 with TestDirector 8.0 Standard and Enterprise Editions.
- QuickTest Professional 8.2 SP1, 8.2 SP2 and 9.0 with TestDirector 8.0 Standard and Enterprise Editions Service Pack 2.
