TestDirector Explorer Add-in

The TestDirector Explorer add-in enables you to use TestDirector as you would a client-server application, if you are unable to download ActiveX controls, or if your browser restricts the use of ActiveX elements. The only elements that are downloaded when you use TestDirector Explorer are TestDirector components. TestDirector Explorer also solves some of the usual browser behavior-related problems, such as losing your connection to TestDirector when clicking on the e-mail hyperlink, or when opening TestDirector as a default browser and then switching to the new link.

Note: If TestDirector 8.0 SP2 Patch 19 has been installed on the TestDirector server, you must install the TestDirector Explorer Add-in (TDExplorerPlugIn.exe) that is provided with the patch. For more information, refer to the Patch 19 Readme.

Installation and Usage Instructions:

  1. Click Download Add-in to download and install this add-in on your TestDirector client machine. Note that to install this add-in, you must log in with administrator privileges.
  2. To open TestDirector Explorer, choose Start > Programs > TestDirector 8.0 > TDExplorer.
  3. In the Address box, type your TestDirector URL (http://<TestDirector server name>/<virtual directory name>) and click the Go button. TestDirector Explorer connects to the TestDirector server. If a new version of TestDirector is installed on the TestDirector server, TestDirector Explorer automatically downloads the new version to your TestDirector client machine.
